What we practice

Our early morning sadhana (morning practice) will consist of an extended, complete yoga practice, beginning with grounding breath work, a full hatha/vinyasa class, restorative postures, and shavasana followed by pranayama and mantra meditation.

We practice and study Hatha/Vinyasa Yoga, Pranayama, and Yoga Nidra under the Tantric Tradition. There will be a lot of practice, as well as lecture, workshops, discussion, activities, journaling and practice teaching.

Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) Yin yoga and restorative Yoga will also be weaved into the schedule.

One of the most important aspects of being a good teacher is dedication to the practice and a deep self study. We believe the best teachers are also students, making a commitment to practice and learn throughout their life.

We will spend a lot of time understanding healthy movement patterns and alignment principals so that you can guide others through the practice with confidence. We will also go deep into the study of Prana- our vital life force, and how to enhance and balance flow through Asana, Pranayama, Mantra and Meditation.

What we will learn:

  • Energetic anatomy, exploring the intricate systems of Chakras, Nadis and the Prana Vayus

  • Practical training in Business and Ethics, with a new section that prepares you to teach online

  • Ayurveda, which is the sister science to Yoga, the Science of life

  • The key concepts to live a more balanced lifestyle, identify your own imbalances, and learn tools to identify the needs of your students.

After this training / Diploma:

  • You will be fully prepared to teach classes if that is your goal.

  • After completing the training, you will receive a 200h Yoga Teacher certificate from Sukha Yoga school, (Cilla & Noahs Yoga School) which will allow you to register through Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT200).

Teachers

Cilla Weisman (US) E-RYT800 - Yoga Technique, Professional Essentials, Anatomy & Physiology, Yoga Humanities

Cilla Weisman, co-founder and instructor at Sukha Yoga School, is lifelong student of the mind, body, and soul. She began her personal practice in 2001, and has been teaching yoga to others for over a decade. She believes the practice can transform us, and that it isn’t separate from our life. Rather, it can act as an anchor in self study that gives us insight into our own behaviors, our relationships and how we interact with others and our external environment. With consistent practice, yoga can help us find purpose and connection in a sometimes difficult and confusing world.

Cilla began her higher education with a Psychology degree from the University of Vermont. At this time she was uncertain of her path, but was interested in the inner workings of the mind and knew that she wanted to help others. She was also drawn to the Eastern philosophy of holistic medicine, so after graduation, she attended Touchstone Healing Arts to study Massage and Body Work. This school provided an in depth training in anatomy, physiology, psychology and pathology, but also explored Eastern philosophies of yoga, energy, holistic healing, and spirituality.

Over the years as a practicing Massage Therapist, Cilla received certifications in Thai and Balinese Massage, Lymphatic drainage, Hot stone, Cupping, and Ayurvedic treatments such as Shirodhara and Abhyanga. She found great happiness and fulfillment in assisting the healing process of others, but also discovered that offering so much, to many people, could drain her energy and exasperate the chronic pain she suffered from scoliosis. She regularly used her asana practice to relieve this pain and find more balance, physically, mentally and emotionally. The more she practiced, the more it evolved from the physical postures into the realm of the mind, thought and consciousness. Through the practice she was able to work through some of her own deep physical and emotional trauma, and become a much happier and healthier person. This gave her the strength and clarity to help others on their path. She had never planned on teaching yoga, until a teacher and studio owner had asked her to start leading classes (with no formal teacher training, just years of steady and dedicated practice). Feeling under qualified, but honored to be asked, she got over her insecurities and began teaching group classes right away. Since her own practice had such a profound impact on her life, it was only natural to share these ancient traditions, and all their benefits, with others.

She hopes to help her students overcome their obstacles and alleviate some pain and suffering, the way it helped her. She completed her 200 hour teacher training through Burlington Yoga and spent several years teaching classes and assisting 200 hour teacher trainings. With a desire to learn more about what she was experiencing, she went on to complete her 500 hour Advanced training of Hatha Yoga under the Tantric Tradition in Bali, Indonesia (Zuna Yoga). Here, she was able to dive deeper into the subtle practices of mantra, prana vidya, pranayama, bandha, kriya, nidra and meditation. Eventually, her studies led her to India, where she completed another 300 hours of study, learning different texts and traditions, and exploring Kirtan. She soon became a part of the teaching team, offering Asana, Pranayama and Yoga Nidra modules to the students there.

Cilla and her husband, Noah, opened Sukha Yoga School in 2015, with the intention of having a positive impact on the community through the practice of Yoga. Sukha, meaning happiness, bliss and “good space”, in Sanskrit, was founded to help others access this authentic and long lasting state of joy and ease.

Always a student, Cilla has received continuing education and Certifications in Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga, Aerial Yoga, Yoga Tune Up (self massage and therapy ball work), Sound Healing and Stand up Paddle Board Yoga. She has over 60 hours in advanced training in anatomy, alignment, skillful assists and handstand preparation and practice. She also studies Ayurveda, the sister science to Yoga, and completed a 200 hour Ayurvedic Integration Certification course through The Ayurvedic Center of Vermont. She also completed a 50 hour training in Marma Therapy (Ayurvedic Accupressure).

Noah Weisman (US) E-RYT500 - Yoga Technique, Professional Essentials, Yoga Humanities

Noah Weisman RYT 500 grew up in Burlington, Vermont, USA. He began his study of the body and movement in 2003 when he started training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Having always been an athlete, he was fascinated by the “Gentle Art” and was able to train with Carlson Grace Sr protege, and newly awarded coral belt, Julio Fernandez. Jiu Jitsu focuses on using your opponent’s force against themselves rather than opposing their energy. While training BJJ, Noah expanded his combat sports study through boxing, Muay Thai, and wrestling. It was through these arts that Noah made his way to the Mixed Martial Arts scene. He fought in the local amateur league for a year finishing both of his opponents in less than 2 minutes. Realizing that he needed to step up his game, he fought professionally and started traveling to Boston, Massachusetts to compete. Compiling a professional record of 5 wins and 3 losses, Noah moved up the ranks and was a top 10 fighter in the New England region, even fighting on a couple televised events.

It was towards the end of his professional fighting career that his then girlfriend and now wife, Cilla, was finally able to convince him to attend one of her yoga classes. She had been teaching for years and always encouraged him to try, but like many people, Noah had a slight aversion to the practice. Once she got him into the yoga studio, he immediately started practicing diligently at least 3-4 times a week and quickly developed a home practice. After a few years of a dedicated practice, Noah had an experience during shavasana which made him delve deeper into the philosophy and psychology of yoga. Shortly thereafter, Cilla and Noah were offered a studio area to teach yoga under their own model, and Sukha Yoga was born. Noah started teaching yoga. It was here that Noah took his first 200 hour teacher training with Cilla and really began his higher education. Completing 500 hours of study and training with Cilla and yet another 300 hours in India, Noah has continued to learn and pursue the goals of yoga through experience. Noah takes his education, understanding and learned methodology to his students with enthusiasm and encouragement wishing only for people to gain all the benefits of the practice that he himself is so grateful for.

Sarah Lisa Yous (Switzerland) E-RYT500 - Yoga Technique, Professional Essentials, Yoga Humanities

Discovered yoga in her mid-20s, stressed from work and studies, while struggling through other areas in her life, she found her way to the mat and thus her personal little sanctuary where she could just be herself, relax, breathe, connect and be present for a moment. She got very passionate about the physical practice, but also wanted to know more about what’s behind all that, and why she felt so good after each class. Not only physically but mentally and emotionally.

A few years later, she spent a month in Bali and visited different yoga classes, styles and teachers. This time inspired her a lot, and awakened the desire to create her personal style and share it with others. In 2015 she completed her first training, a 200h yoga training "Krama Vinyasa Yoga Therapy". Right after completing the training she started teaching and soon was teaching several classes a week in different studios in Zürich, Switzerland. In 2017 she completed her 300h Advanced Yoga Teacher Training with Les Leventhal in Bali, followed by many other trainings over the years, such as a 50h Mindfulness Training in Zürich, 50h Yin Yoga Training in Bali, 300h Bhakti Yoga Training in India, as well as a 50h Fertility Yoga Teacher Training and a 20h Yoga Nidra training that she did online. Furthermore she’s a Reiki Level 2 practitioners and trained with teachers like Meghan Currie, Wanda Badwal, Mark Das, Patrick Beach, Leslie Kaminoff, Cilla Weisman and others to deepen her knowledge and practice in different areas such as of Anatomy, Inversions (Handstands and Forearm Balance), Assists- and Adjustments, Pranayama, Mythology and Philosophy.

What started as a simple physical practice to relax and reconnect, expanded quickly into something way deeper und bigger. Yoga shows her again and again that there are no limits and that we can constantly grow. The awareness that she gained through her daily practice, all the aspects of the yoga philosophy and learning how to take yoga off the mat, is what helps her now through all areas of life. Yoga became her lifestyle.

Teaching Yoga is something very personal to her. She strongly believes that in order to teach and really understand yoga, you have to experience it, so a very regular and committed self-practice is key to her. Like this quote says it so nicely: “Yoga is 1% theory and 99% practice”. She loves to share her passion, and pass on the ancient teachings of yoga as well as her own experience in her classes, workshops, yoga retreats and trainings.

Sarah mainly teaches a strong and very dynamic style of Vinyasa Yoga. Pranayama and Meditation are part of every class. She is very passionate about inversions and arm balances, the philosophy of yoga and loves to chant Mantra while playing the harmonium.

Sarah is an E-RYT500 with over 970 hours of education. She speaks Swiss German, German, English and French.

Jintina Sundarabhaya (US) - Anatomy & Physiology (Online)

Jintina has always been passionate about helping others. In her late teens she became fascinated with natural medicine, especially bodywork. She went to massage school in the US before traveling to Thailand to deepen her study of Eastern bodywork at Chiva-Som Academy and Thai Massage School Shivagakomarpaj.

She regularly trains and attends continuing education courses in massage and bodywork through Lotus Palm in Canada. Jintina is Board (Nationally) Certified in Massage Therapy and Bodywork (since 2005), and is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association. She is also an experienced Certified Yoga teacher, after taking two 200 hour Yoga Teacher Trainings, she's taught Ashtanga, Hatha, Vinyasa, Yoga Tune Up, Therapeutic, Restorative and Yin Yoga.

She is passionate about Yoga, Anatomy, and Healing Arts, and loves combining them in her Yoga Anatomy Modules for 200 hour Yoga Teacher Trainings. Jintina founded her own center, Metta Healing Arts and Wellness, where she regularly sees clients and assists in body work trainings. When she isn’t working directly with clients or teaching, you’ll find her enjoying time with her husband and two young children in Burlington, Vermont.

Jintina will teach Anatomy & Physiology online, live. Means she won’t be in Portugal in person, but we will have her on a big screen at the studio to study online live with her.
