Yoga Nidra Certification - 30 hours

Rolling Admissions: Fall Sessions begin Mid September and go to January.
In a busy world that tends to focus on “doing” rather than “being”, these slower, gentle, and more introspective practices are essential to maintaining balance. When we don’t have a strong spiritual practice, the hardships, struggles and temporality of life can cause a great deal of confusion and stress. Stress has an extremely negative effect on our health and often leads us to seek external sense gratification as a means of “relaxation” or temporary escape. Yoga Nidra will provide us with a self study that allows us to not only relax in a healthy way, but actually provides an opportunity for deep introspection, resulting in a better understanding of the Self and our relationship to everyone and everything around us.

Yoga Nidra is an ancient and accessible guided technique that can lead us toward greater self-awareness and implement positive transformation in our lives. Nidra means “sleep” in sanskrit, so this practice can be considered “yogic sleep”, only we are not really sleeping, but rather reaching a relaxed state of consciousness that is in-between wakefulness and sleep. It is more like conscious sleep, where we use a systematic method to induce physical, mental and emotional relaxation but the Self stays awake and aware. By becoming deeply relaxed and guided through the Koshas (or sheaths of existence), we are able to escape our constantly “thinking” mind, and move closer to our true Self, free of the mind and false ego. In this relaxed state of mind, we plant the seeds of our Sankalpa to implement positive transformation.

This practice have a long list of benefits for our body, but more profound is how a regular practice changes the way we think, perceive, and react in this world and beyond. In this course, you’ll be able to experience these healing modalities first hand, deepen your understanding of why we practice them and learn the tools and techniques to share this transformative practice with others.

What you’ll learn: Energetic Anatomy - Koshas, Nadis, Chakras, Prana Vayus, Pranayama - techniques that you can practice before, after and during your classes, Emotional Release and Samskara, Meditation Techniques, Benefits of Yoga Nidra, How to write your own Yoga Nidra Scripts and present them to your students, Sankalpa - The Power of Intention, Brain wave patterns & Yoga Nidra, and Relaxation and the Nervous System

Program led by Cilla Weisman, E-RYT 1000, BA in Psychology from University of Vermont. Certified in: Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Massage Therapy, Marma Therapy, Sound Healing, and 200 hours in Ayurveda Integration.

This will be an apprentice style Yoga Nidra Training. With private lessons, Yoga Nidra sessions, one on one practice, group practice, homework and self study, students will have the ability to write and deliver their own unique Yoga Nidra Scripts ranging anywhere from 15-60 minutes in length.

Yin Yoga level 1 Training Course with Cilla

Screen Shot 2019-04-18 at 2.39.47 PM.png

Saturday November 23rd and Sunday November 24th

Yin Yoga is a unique style of asana where we are encouraged to find our individual edge of sensation and stay with this edge in stillness for several minutes. It's accessible for everyone and teaches us to be calm, still and introspective. We can use props to support us and we sharpen our discernment while choosing our individual edge. The postures target our connective tissue, and promote a strengthening and lengthening of this complex network. There are so many physiological benefits, but the beauty of Yin Yoga lies in the subtle practice of self-study, meditation, and application of yogic philosophy. It can be a great tool to allow us to feel better in our bodies but also to experience a connection between mind, body, and spirit. When we overcome the mind we can better connect to our true nature: that part of us that is filled with unconditional love and compassion.
We will cover:
* The anatomy of connective tissue, discussing fascia, joints, and bones.
* Energetic anatomy: the koshas, chakras, prana vayus, pranayama techniques and how to incorporate them into your class.
* Yin postures, how to instruct them and their contraindications, modifications and benefits
* How to sequence an intelligent and safe Yin class for your students or home practice.
There are qualities of Yin and Yang in everything in nature. To balance out this quiet, still and introspective practice we also offer a strong Vinyasa class and Mantra meditation.
Students will leave with the knowledge and confidence to design a Yin class that is safe and effective.
This Yin training is unique from other Yin trainings because we incorporate the ancient teachings of Bhakti yoga. We will discuss the Energetic Anatomy of Prana Vayus, Nadis and Chakras. This training blends up to date anatomy with the timeless truths of Yoga philosophy to offer a Yin style class that can help you deepen your spiritual practice and broaden your perspective.
