Inner Awakenings: A Yin Yoga & Yoga Nidra Training

Yoga Nidra & Yin Yoga Certification Course in Puerto Rico!

Set in a stunning valley on 107 lush tropical acres, Casa Grande Mountain Retreat is an oasis of peace and tranquility. The former coffee plantation, now exquisitely landscaped, has 20 rooms scattered up the mountainside, each with private bath and hammock. A fresh-water swimming pool is cradled beneath a green mountain vista. A fully equipped yoga center is used for individual and group practice. Delicious Vegetarian (and Vegan) meals provided by Simon’s Catering.

This course combines the rich philosophical teachings of Bhakti Yoga with the practices of Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra.
In a busy world that tends to focus on “doing” rather than “being”, these slower, gentle, and more introspective practices are essential to maintaining balance. When we don’t have a strong spiritual practice, the hardships, struggles and temporality of life can cause a great deal of confusion and stress. Stress has an extremely negative effect on our health and often leads us to seek external sense gratification as a means of “relaxation” or temporary escape. Yoga Nidra and Yin and Yoga provide us with a self study that allows us to not only relax in a healthy way, but actually provides an opportunity for deep introspection, resulting in a better understanding of the Self and our relationship to everyone and everything around us.

Yin Yoga is a unique style of asana where we are encouraged to find our individual edge of sensation and stay with this edge in stillness for several minutes. It's also accessible and teaches us to be calm, still and introspective. We can use props to support us and sharpen our discernment while choosing a variation that works our individual edge. The practice is different because it targets our connective tissue, and promotes a strengthening and lengthening of this complex network. There are so many physiological benefits, but the beauty of Yin Yoga lies in the subtle practice of self-study, meditation, reflection and application of yoga philosophy. It can be a great tool to allow us to feel better in our bodies but also to experience a connection between mind, body, and spirit. When we overcome the mind we can better connect to our true nature: that part of us that is filled with unconditional love and compassion.
Yoga Nidra is an ancient and accessible guided technique that can lead us toward greater self-awareness and implement positive transformation in our lives. Nidra means “sleep” in sanskrit, so this practice can be considered “yogic sleep”, only we are not really sleeping, but rather reaching a relaxed state of consciousness that is in-between wakefulness and sleep. It is more like conscious sleep, where we use a systematic method to induce physical, mental and emotional relaxation but the Self stays awake and aware. By becoming deeply relaxed and guided through the Koshas (or sheaths of existence), we are able to escape our constantly “thinking” mind, and move closer to our true Self, free of the mind and false ego. In this relaxed state of mind, we plant the seeds of our Sankalpa to implement positive transformation.

All of these practices have a long list of benefits for our body, but more profound is how a regular practice changes the way we think, perceive, and react in this world and beyond. In this course, you’ll be able to experience these healing modalities first hand, deepen your understanding of why we practice them and learn the tools and techniques to share these transformative practices with others. The training is deeply enhanced with the powerful teachings and practice of Bhakti Yoga. When you learn to really embody Bhakti lifestyle, you’ll feel empowered to serve and uplift those around you by adding this wisdom into your classes!
