Sukha Yoga 200 hour Teacher Training

This 200 hour course will be an in depth study of Hatha Yoga under the Tantric Tradition.  Students will learn how to teach and practice asana (yoga postures), pranayama (specific breathing techniques), bandhas, mudras, mantra, and meditation.You will learn how to effectively teach a yoga class, but this course is also recommended for those who wish to deepen their personal practice of yoga.

Anatomy and Physiology-

Learning the physical body and it’s systems as well as energetic anatomy (exploring nadis and chakras)

Qualities of a Yoga Teacher

Ethics, lifestyle, professionalism, presence, energy and personality, attention to detail, love of yoga

Philosophy- Concepts of Yoga

We will discuss the six major types of yoga:

Raja, Jnana, Bhakti, Karma, Tantra and Hatha

The fundamental principals of Yoga

History of Yoga

Vedas and Upanishads

The 5 sheaths

Intro to Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra

We will learn about the softer side of yoga using these slower more relaxing techniques.  Students will experience all of these practices multiple times through out the training.  You will learn specific techniques to affectively teach restorative yoga- more experience may be necessary to teach Yin or Yoga Nidra depending on the individuals background.  

Intro to Ayurveda

the elements

learn the doshas: Vata, Pitta, Kapha and how to identify dominance and imbalance in yourself and students.

Learn how to bring harmony and balance to yourself and your students through ayurvedic yogic practices.

Intro to Aromatherapy: Learn the healing qualities of essential oils and how to use them in your life and your classes.

Business and Marketing:  learn marketing techniques to grow a student base.  Discovering a niche- exploring ways to stand out in this constantly growing industry.  Explore business ventures that will allow you to expand your career as a Yoga Teacher.


We will break down this classical Indian Language,  learning how to pronounce and apply it to our teaching

At Sukha we truly believe in the lifestyle and practice of yoga and it's philosophy.  One of the most important aspects of being a good teacher is dedication to the practice and deep self study.  We recommend anyone enrolled in the program practice as much as possible before the training begins- to make this more affordable anyone enrolled in the training can come to classes for $5 a class leading up to the training and then come to as many classes as one can for free during the training.  The physical practice can at times be strenuous, and although we welcome all levels of ability, trusting in the process and experiencing transformation can take time.  Students should expect to come out of this training with a deeper knowledge of the self,  yoga philosophy, anatomy, yoga ethics and lifestyle, and the ability to guide a safe and effective yoga class.  You will receive a certificate from the school, which will allow you to register through Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT).

Friday nights can be made up with other class times on the schedule and we will host a make up weekend at the end if people need to make up hours missed. 

We accept non-degree grants from VSAC to help cover the cost of tuition.  Yoga Alliance also offers a scholarship to cover the cost of the training but it is much more competitive than VSAC.  Tuition includes free classes for the duration of the training and several workshops and weekend immersions.  We are willing to work with those who have a strong interest and commitment but may need a payment plan so please feel free to reach out.

Please note that in order to receive a certificate from the school all hours must be completed, any unexcused missed hours must be made up, all homework assignments completed, the student must demonstrate an understanding of the course content, and pass the practice teaching exam.  Once all these guidelines are met we will issue a certificate.
